Did you know that Fat Straws was the first to bring mochi donuts to Texas back in 2018? Since then, we’ve been perfecting the art of making these delicious, one-of-a-kind treats that Dallas locals love. Making mochi donuts is no easy feat—mochi dough can be tricky to work with—but we’ve got it down to a science!
Our mochi donuts, also known as “Pon de Rings,” are affectionately called Chewy Puff Mochi Donuts. Made with authentic mochi flour, these Japanese-style donuts have a unique texture that’s nothing like traditional American donuts. Imagine a donut with a crispy exterior and a satisfyingly chewy inside. Each bite is perfect for tearing, sharing, and enjoying with friends or family!
We are excited to announce the launch of its latest creation: Churro Mochi Bites. These bite-sized mochi donut holes, coated in a perfect blend of cinnamon and sugar, will be available starting December 19, 2024, for a limited time only.

How should I store them for the next day?
Our mochi donuts are best enjoyed the same day, but we get it—not everyone can eat six donuts at once! Here are our tips for keeping your mochi donuts fresh and delicious:
- No Refrigeration Needed: Avoid refrigerating mochi donuts, as it can affect their texture.
- Store at Room Temperature: Place them in a container with the lid slightly open (not fully closed and not fully open). This balance keeps them from drying out or becoming too soggy.
- Warm Before Eating: For that fresh-out-of-the-oven feel, microwave each donut for 5 seconds before enjoying.
